Alexander Van Damme looks back on the beginning of Bedal and immediately thinks of his friend David: “He got cancer, and I saw up close how difficult it was to live day in and day out with a catheter. It had to stay dry to prevent dangerous infections, so David couldn’t shower normally. He found that perhaps the most annoying thing of all.” That moment brought an insight, an opportunity to use his entrepreneurship in a valuable way. A development project by VLAIO helped Alexander, together with David and brother-in-law Falk, make the idea of comfortable catheters a reality.
